Publication Ethics

Publication Ethics

Resources Science is committed to meeting the international ethical standards at all stages of the publication process. In accordance with the relevant guidelines published by the Committee of Publication Ethics (COPE) and combined with the actual situation of the journal, we have formulated the ethical standards for the publication of the journal:

1. Responsibilities of Authors

(1) Authors should ensure the originality of the manuscript, and research results of others used in the content should be indicated and cited as appropriate. Academic misconduct including plagiarism, fabricated data, multiple submission, and redundant publishing are strictly forbidden and confidential information should be avoided.

(2) Authorship criteria: All authors must have made substantial contributions to the work related to the research or manuscript, including conception and design of the study, acquisition of data, analysis and interpretation of data; drafting the article or revising it critically for important intellectual content; or final approval of the version to be submitted. It is required that all signed authors should meet at least one of the above criteria.

(3) Changes to authorship: Once submitted, the information of the first author and the corresponding author is not allowed to be changed. However, any addition, deletion, or rearrangement of author names other than those of the first or corresponding author could be made before the acceptance of the manuscript. To request for such a change, the corresponding author must specify the reason and send a confirmation letter to the Editorial Office in which all authors agree with the addition, removal, or rearrangement of author names. Addition or removal of authors should be confirmed in the confirmation letter by authors who are added or removed.

(4) Authors should declare individual contributions and disclose all conflicts of interest. All authors should fill up and submit the Author Contribution Statement and Conflict of Interest Statement (see the Author Declaration in the Download page), so as to ensure that each author has made material contributions to the manuscript, no gift author exists, and all conflicts of interest involved have been explicitly disclosed. When the financing/personal status/affiliation of authors (or authors' institution/employer) may bias authors' decision, work or manuscript, underlying conflict of interest might exist. Authors should also disclose conflicts of interest with products that compete with those mentioned in their manuscripts.

2. Responsibility of Editors

(1) Editors should handle all submitted manuscripts equally and objectively. Any decision to accept or reject a manuscript should be made on the basis of its research scope, novelty, and academic merit.

(2) Editors should strictly follow the review process of the journal and keep an authentic review record. In addition, editors are obliged to maintain the confidentiality of authors' and reviewers' personal information, research results in manuscripts, and additional materials in the review process.

(3) Editors are responsible for avoiding any academic misconduct, including multiple submissions and redundant publications, and conduct test on all submitted manuscripts for repetition rate as required by the Editorial Office.

(4) Editors should provide authors with detailed revision comments or specified reasons for rejection. Review comments should be forwarded to authors in an objective manner without verbal attacks or judgments on reviewers or authors.

(5) In the process of publishing, editors should follow publishing standards and respect authors' opinions and writing styles. Authors' permission should be obtained to revise critical information, such as scientific opinions.

(6) For manuscripts submitted by the Editorial Board Members or editors of the journal, editors should ensure that they must follow all the review and editing procedures of the journal.

3. Responsibilities of Reviewers

(1) Reviewers should make an honest, objective, and impartial evaluation on all submitted manuscripts so as to uphold academic integrity and respect academic freedom. In addition, reviewers shall not discriminate against authors on the basis of nationality, institution, ethnicity, religious beliefs, political beliefs, gender, etc., and shall not divulge any research details in the manuscripts.

(2) If there is a conflict of interest between reviewers and authors, for example, they have kinship, teacher-student relationship, alumni relationship, working relationship, or competitive relationship, reviewers should consult with the Editorial Office in a timely manner for further suggestions.

(3) In situations where reviewers' research is similar to that of the manuscript under review, reviewers should not make unfounded or malicious judgments and should avoid making unfounded accusations.

(4) Reviewers should finish their review on manuscripts in time, and should notify the Editorial Office in a timely manner if they are unable to finish their work on time. Reviewers have the right to recommend other reviewers to the Editorial Office. However, without the Editorial Office' s permission, reviewers should not entrust their review work to their students, colleagues, etc.

(5) If a reviewer encounters a previously reviewed manuscript, he or she is obliged to inform the Editorial Office of the situation and provide review comments according to the journal's criteria.

4. Academic Misconduct

The journal only accepts original research works that have not been published in or submitted to other journals. Academic misconduct, including plagiarism, fabricated data, multiple submissions, redundant publications, is strictly prohibited. Manuscripts found with the above academic misconduct would be rejected, and the Editorial Office will inform the authors' institutions and other journals in the field of resource science. In addition, other submissions from relevant authors will no longer be accepted.

To prevent academic misconduct, the Editorial Office uses the "Academic Misconduct Literature Detection System" developed by CNKI to check each submitted manuscript at three different stages: upon submission, after peer review, and before publication. It is required that the repetition rate should be within 20% for general manuscripts, and may be higher for literature reviews as appropriate. In addition, the percentage of similarity to a single published article should be less than 15%. Manuscripts that fail to meet the above standards will be rejected.

5. Correction and Retraction Policy

The journal will make corrections or retractions to articles as necessary. Articles published online or in print are considered the final version of the manuscript. In general, no corrections or retractions will be made to published articles, except in the following circumstances:

Correction: If honest scientific errors are found in a published article that do not materially affect the results and conclusions of the research, the editors will publish corrections in the journal as soon as possible, detailing the changes made to the original article and indicating the source of the article. The journal will publish the corrected version of the article, specifying the changes made to the original article and the date of the update. The superseded version is also archived. Readers may obtain it directly, but only the latest version of the article should be used for citation.

Retraction: The Editorial Office will retract published articles and issue retraction statements in the following cases:

(1) If an article is found to contain serious scientific errors that render the results and conclusions of the article unreliable;

(2) For articles suspected of scientific misconduct, such as plagiarism and fabrication of data, the Editorial Office will initiate an investigation and issue a statement to inform readers of the risks associated with the article. Once the investigation is complete, the results will be made public. If it is confirmed that the article involves academic misconduct, the Editorial Office will retract the article and issue a retraction statement.

6. Appeals

The journal accepts appeals from authors. If authors disagree with the review comments or results, they can submit a written appeal to the Editorial Office via email (zykx@igsnrr.ac.cn). Authors must provide a detailed explanation for each review comment. Upon receipt of the appeal letter, the Editorial Office will investigate and address it as soon as possible and the result will be fed back to the author.

7. Discussion on Published Articles

We encourage authors and readers to make discussion on the published articles. Comments can be sent to the journal's email (zykx@igsnrr.ac.cn). The Editorial Office will deal with it as soon as possible and give feedback as appropriate. We welcome readers and authors to actively provide their comments on the articles to the journal, which can help us to create a positive academic environment.

8. Advertising

At the moment, Resources Science is not opted for advertising and no advertisements would be published in the paper journal, official website of the journal, etc.
